The Planets

Each planet rules a house and sign, illustrating the interaction I mentioned. For example, a 5th house Sun person will come over very Leo regardless of what sign they are.

Each of these planets express their own individual energies on the person concerned, their energies being subtly changed depending on the qualities of the sign and house they are in.

The Sun represents our very will to survive, our ego and willpower, it comprises the sum of all the planetary energies combined. It is our true self identity, the core of our very being.

The Moon governs our inner self: our emotional make-up, adaptation and sense of security.

Mercury is the planet of the mind. It governs our thinking, i.e. the way we think and put ideas over - communication in general.

Venus is commonly referred to as the planet of love, and is indeed responsible for the ways we conduct our friendships and relationships. It also conveys our tastes and how we appreciate arts, music, and things of beauty, and the natural world. Money matters can also be represented here, alongside Jupiter.

Mars is our drive: the way we get things done (or don't get them done!) Survival, assertion, competitiveness are all key words here, as is libido, for Mars also represents our sexual drive and is therefore always associated hand in glove with Venus, these two planets being representative of the male-female archetype.
